This standard covers the double check valve backflow prevention assembly. The assembly shall be capable of withstanding a working water pressure of at least 150 psi (1034 kPa) without damage to working parts or impairment of function and for operation on hot or cold water lines. This standard covers double check valve backflow prevention assemblies which are designed to operate with water at a temperature range of 33°F to 110°F (1°C to 43°C).
Description
The manufacturer should be consulted if higher temperatures are to be encountered. A complete assembly consists of two internally loaded, independently operating check valves, located between two tightly closing resilient-seated shutoff valves, with four properly placed resilient seated test cocks. This standard is a revision of ANSI/AWWA C506-78, which with this edition was separated into two standards: C510 and C511.
