SKU: STC_0006874-PDF
The standard was first made June 1975 with the latest revision approved January 1981. ANSI approved it in May 1981. Also provided is a brief history of the standard, information on the purpose and application of the standard, information supplied by the purchaser, the major revisions, and information on AWWA Manual M23.
Description
This standard pertains to 4 in. through 12 in. PVC pressure pipe made from Class 12454-A or Class 12454-B materials providing a hydrostatic design base (HDB) of 4000 psi and conforming with the outside diameter (OD) dimensions of steel pipe (IPS) or cast iron pipe (CI) and with the wall thickness of DR series 14, 18, or 25. Design considerations are provided in the appendices to this standard and in AWWA Manual M23, PVC Pipe - Design and Installation (1980). Included are sections on the following: definitions, references and affidavit of compliance, pipe, couplings and joining materials, pipe requirements, coupling requirements, performance requirements for elastomeric-gasket joints, marking requirements, shipping and delivery, and pressure class ratings for pipe, inspection and testing by manufacturing including quality control tests, quality control records, and hydrostatic proof test requirements, plant inspection by purchaser including production notice, manufacturer's responsibility, inspection limitations, plant access, and inspection aids. The appendix includes information on AWWA design requirements and criteria for PVC water pipe including sections on; general requirements, design terminology, internal pressures, external loads, definitions, installation, failure models, and references.
