SKU: STC_0006854-PDF
This standard was made May 1954 and the latest revision occurred January 1980. ANSI approved it in January 1980. Also provided is a history of the standard, information furnished by the purchaser of valves, and the major revisions.
Description
This standard covers cast iron and ductile iron body, rubber seated, tight closure butterfly valves, 3-72 in. in size, with various body types and body ends for maximum shutoff pressures and operating torques, and for fresh water having pH greater than 6 and temperatures generally less than 125F (52C). Valves covered by this standard are furnished in four body types and in classes of wafer valves, short-body flanged valves, long-body valves, and mechanical-joint-end valves. Also included are sections on the following: references, data supplied by bidder, data supplied by manufacturer, affidavit of compliance; materials specifications including physical and chemical properties, tests; general design, valve bodies, end flanges, valve shafts, valve discs, valve seats, valve bearings, shaft seals, valve operators; workmanship and painting; inspection, performance tests, leakage tests, hydrostatic test, proof-of-design tests, and basis for rejection; marking and shipping. The appendix includes a method for calculating torque required to operate butterfly valves.
