This standard covers cast-iron and ductile-iron body, rubber-seated, tight-closure butterfly valves, 3-72 in. in size, with various body types and body ends for maximum shutoff pressures and operating torques, and for freshwater having a pH greater than 6 and temperatures generally less than 125°F.
Description
The revisions included in this edition consist of the following: body types were increased from three to four by the addition of mechanical-joint end bodies to the standard; Sec. 2 - Information to be Supplied by Purchaser, was moved from the Standard and placed in the Foreword; laying lengths of wafer valves were added to the standard and Appendix B was deleted; requirements for the connection between shaft and disc were changed to include methods other than by means of keys, dowel pins, or taper pins; carbon-steel shafts with stainless- steel journals were added to the permissible shaft materials; aluminum, bronze, and stainless steel were added to the permissible disc materials; specific requirements for compounding and testing rubber for seats were added; requirements for minimum rubber- seat dimensions were deleted; additional testing for manual operators was added; and, general changes were added to the standard to make it conform to current practice.
