Description

Water utilities can prepare for LCRI compliance by identifying unknown service line materials. This webinar provides practical examples from water utilities that have executed service line materials identification programs using meter pit inspections, excavations, and in-basement inspections.

The presenters will cover the following topics:

  • Classifying Lead Status Unknown Lines through Meter Pit Inspections:
As the LCRR compliance date approached, Bentonville Water Utilities conducted meter pit inspections to eliminate LSUs and used GIS to update their inventory in real time.
  • Service Line Inventory Completion Using Historical Records, Meter Pit Inspections, and Excavations:
Brushy Creek Municipal Utility District completed the final 25% of their service line inventory via meter pit inspections and excavations after exhausting historical records.
  • A Comparison of Water Meter Box Inspections with Test Pit Results:
For some water systems, meter pit inspections be insufficient due to material changes outside the meter pit. In this presentation, a water utility will discuss their process for selecting an appropriate physical inspection protocol.
  • Using Basement Inspections to Identify Customer-Owned Service Line Materials:
Customer-owned service line materials may be visible in basements. This presentation discusses a utility’s use of basement inspections, both stand-alone and paired with test pits, to identify service line materials.
