This course is the first in an AWWA's series on Infrastructure Management Certificate Program (EL174).

- Explain the importance of GASB 34.
- Summarize the risks associated with lack of maintenance.
Description
Infrastructure maintenance is a critical component of each process and is relied on for consistent operations. The concept of asset management, as a part of GASB34, is a tool used by regulatory and finance officials to track the condition of infrastructure and to identify areas where added maintenance or capital projects may be needed.
This course summarizes the basic utility processes (water treatment, wastewater treatment, water distribution, sewer collections), and the assets incorporated for each.
