This course teaches key management functions and how to work with a governing board.
This is the third course in two of AWWA's Certificate Programs, including:
Management & Supervision Certificate Program (EL153) and
Utility Management Certificate Program (EL175).
Objectives
- Explain the importance of knowledge transfer and institutional knowledge.
- Describe the changes in employee demographics and retention strategies.
- Give examples of the differences in expectations among the board, stakeholders, and management.
- Create a vision statement.
Description
A 21st century management role is not the same as a management role was in the 20th century. Stakeholders, business objectives, staff needs, and many other considerations have created a minefield for successful management. This course teaches key management functions and how to work with a governing board. There is a focus on conflict resolution and on interpersonal relationship skills. The course reviews the importance of good management and supervision practices; it also reviews the management of an organization and the senior management team.
This course includes the following modules:
Module 1: Basic Management.
Module 2: Governing Board Relations.
Module 3: Vision Statements.
This course is non-refundable.
