Objectives

  • Locate the areas where water passes through from the source to your tap.
  • Discuss the components of source water and how it is protected and managed.
  • Review the conventional water treatment process, and several alternative water treatment methods.
  • Recognize the process of treated water as it moves through the distribution system to your tap.
  • Describe the wastewater collection and treatment process, and the return of treated wastewater into the source.
  • Identify the administrative processes that happen within a water utility company, and techniques used to foster a sustainable water system.

Description

This course is intended for those wishing to learn the overall basics of how water works as it moves from the source to your tap. The course will provide you with the general knowledge of the processes that take place in your source water, within the water treatment plant, the distribution system, your own home, and wastewater facilities.

This course will also allow you to identify key administrative processes within water utilities, and helpful management processes to create a sustainable water system.

This course consists of the following six modules:

Module 1: Overview of Water from Source to Tap.

Module 2: Water Sources and Contamination.

Module 3: Water Treatment Operations.

Module 4: Distribution Operations.

Module 5: Wastewater process.

Module 6: Sustainable Water System Management.

Certificates of Completion
