This standard covers the various types and classes of cold-water turbine meters in sizes 1 1/2 in.-12 in. for water works customer service, and the materials and workmanship employed in their fabrication. These meters register by recording the revolutions of a turbine set in motion by the force of flowing water striking the blades.
Description
The major changes in this revision of the standard include the following: a Foreword has been added, as have two new sections-- Sec. 1, Information To Be Furnished by the Purchaser, and Sec. 3, Affidavit of Compliance; the largest meter size covered has been lowered from 16 in. to 12 in. size; safe maximum operating capacity has been lowered for 6 in. and larger sizes; maximum permissible friction loss has been lowered from 20 psi to 15 psi; maximum dimensions for width, height, and centerline of outlets to base of meter have been established; compositions of materials for major components of meters have been tightened; and, registration accuracy within normal test flow limits has been changed from 3% to 2%, and accuracy requirements at minimum test flows have been deleted.
