A brief history of the standard is provided along with a discussion of sodium metabisulfite, information regarding use of the standard, and major municipal water supplies. Included are sections on the following: the definition of sodium metabisulfite, affidavit of compliance, rejection; material size, impurities, available sulfur dioxide, sampling, packing and shipping, marking; testing methods, preparations, and available sulfur dioxide.
