Description
The standard was approved June 1978. A brief history of the standard and a discussion of the chemical is also included. This standard covers sodium tripolyphosphate for use in water treatment. The chemical's applications include corrosion control, scale prevention, iron and manganese stabilization, and removal of hardness. Included are sections on the following: general information, affidavit for compliance, basis for rejection, material specifications, physical and chemical requirements, impurities, sampling, packing and shipping, marking, and various testing methods for size, solubility, phosphorous pentoxide, pH, sodium oxide content, and ignition loss.
