B403-69: AWWA Standard for Aluminum Sulfate--Liquid, Ground, or Lump (PDF)

Part A covers general conditions; Part B covers material specifications; Part C provides for sampling, packing, shipping, and marking; and, Part D covers testing. Major changes to this standard are as follows: a Foreword has been added; format has been changed so that Part A now includes only those requirements that are general in nature, including a statement of scope that permits the deletion of scopes from each of the other parts of the standard; all references to sulfur trioxide, which is no longer used in the industry, have been deleted in the sections on Basicity, 6B, and in the test methods in Sections 7D, 8D, and 9D; the last sentence of the first paragraph of Section 2C.2 was added to provide restrictions on extraneous material in tank cars and tank trucks and a prohibition on using these vehicles for shipping toxic material at any time; and, as a result of these revisions, the designation has been changed from "B403-64" to "B403-69."
