This standard describes the various types and classes of cold-water fire-service- type meters in sizes 3 in. (80 mm) through 10 in. (250 mm) and the materials and workmanship used in their fabrication.
Description
The major revisions made to the standard in this edition include the following: Sec. III.A of the foreword, Purchaser Options and Alternatives, has been modified to include details of other federal, state or provincial, and local requirements, and whether compliance with NSF/ANSI 372, Drinking Water System Components - Lead Content, NSF/ANSI 61, Drinking Water System Components - Health Effects, or an alternative lead content criterion is required; in Sec. 4.1, Materials, a provision has been added that "Materials shall comply with the requirements of the Safe Drinking Water Act and other federal requirements"; in Sec. 4.1.2, Main Casings, new material provisions have been added; in Sec. 4.3, Table 3 has been modified so that the minimum thickness values for companion flanges conform to ASME B16.1 for cast-iron pipe flanges, ANSI/ AWWA C207 for steel plate flanges, and ASME B16.24 for bronze pipe flanges; and, in Sec. A.8.2 of appendix A, AWWA's statement on policy on public water supply matters has been updated.
