This document contains both of the following standard specifications: 7A.3-1940: AWWA Standard Specifications for Electric Fusion Welded Steel Water Pipe of Sizes 30 Inches and Over; and, 7A.4-1941: AWWA Standard Specifications for Steel Water Pipe of Sizes of 4 Inches Up to but Not Including 30 Inches. The 7A.1, 7A.2, 7A.3, 7A.5, 7A.6, and 7A.7 committee reports are tentative specifications and are published to solicit constructive criticism from the membership as a whole.
Description
Three reports (7A.5, 7A.6, 7A.7) have been prepared to provide protection for steel water pipe for both underground and surface requirements. However, it is recognized by this committee that in some waters and in some soils, protection to the inside and outside pipe surfaces is not necessary and this Committee does not attempt to make mandatory the use of such protection or to evaluate the condition of its use. -The above paragraph is found on page 1 of the insert in the yellow covered publication, "For Use of 7A Committee Only."
